I stand with Nneka Allen, CFRE, COC, PCC<\/a> and Mide Akerewusi, B.Sc., M.Sc. (Econ), CSR-P, CDEP.<\/a> every step of the way.

Many people have been reaching out and asking why Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Toronto Chapter<\/a> issued an apology that was promptly removed. They have also asked why there has been no action or statement by Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Global)<\/a>.

The answer is simple. A cease and desist was issued by Caroline Reisboro to our membership organization to cease any conversations around #antiblackracism<\/a> during her tenure as chair. We are aware of the contents and they are defamatory in nature.

The focus, once again, is on upholding a reputation versus seeking to repair harm done to Black folx. This is a continued pattern of intimidation and coercion of our sector by individuals with power and privilege. We cannot stand idly by when people use legal threats to suppress stories of anti-Black racism.

Until Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP Global)<\/a> stands up and supports its members in a meaningful way I will be ceasing my membership, boycotting all AFP events, and will not engage in any further teaching of AFP content.

1. Sign the petition calling on AFP Global to remove AFP GTC’s 10-star status. (https:\/\/lnkd.in\/eYaSvvS3<\/a>)
2. Cease the renewal of your individual and organizational memberships of AFP GTC, until the repair is complete.
3. Boycott AFP GTC conferences, webinars, and workshops as a mark of protest against inaction by AFP GTC to resolve anti-Black racism among its Board.
4. Apply pressure on sponsors and agencies who continue to support AFP GTC while it perpetuates ongoing racism and withholds a genuine apology.
